Specificity: CBP shows substantial homology with p300. This antibody reacts with CBP and p300, but not with p270. Protein kinase A (PKA) mediated CREB phosphorylation results in the binding of CREB to CBP (CREB-binding protein). Phosphorylation by PKA enables CREB to serve as a scaffold for CBP, which then activates the process responsible for expression of the cAMP inducible gene. The antibody recognizes a region near the C-terminus of CBP (amino acids 2071- 2091). This antibody cross-reacts with human, rat, monkey, mink and mouse CBP/p300.
