Specificity: Myeloperoxidase metabolizes most of the hydrogen peroxide generated by activated phagocytes. This antibody stains strongly with the cytoplasm of myeloid cells. The antibody detects myeloperoxidase found in myeloid cells of acute myeloid leukemia. The myeloperoxidase gene has been localized to chromosome 17.
