Since its introduction in the early 1980’s, the BluBox system has established itself as a substantial cost saving method to archiving tissue blocks or microscope slides. The OmniStor BluBox when used in conjunction with the OmniStor 2 offers a cost effective solution for storage of either blocks or slides – once full the BluBox can simply be removed from the cabinet, archived onto cost efficient RacStor shelving and into the metal cabinet.
Considerable cost savings can be made as there is no longer any need to make substantial investment in additional cabinets, you only need to purchase a new BluBox. Your laboratory personnel will not have to waste time decanting slides and blocks from metal cabinets into archive boxes, which means they have more time to carry out more important tasks.
The BluBox system is manufactured from high-density polystyrene to an exacting standard, offering lightweight, strength, rigidity, moisture resistance and fire retardant materials. When used to store tissue blocks, BluBox trays interlock and stack on top of each other. When used to store microscope slides, one BluBox tray is inverted to form an interlocking lid, protecting the slides from both dust and daylight.
The BluBox can be used on its own or together with OmniStor 2 cabinets and RacStor 6 modular shelving system.
