OVERVIEW

Digoxin is the cardiac glycoside most widely used in the treatment of heart failure and certain disturbances of cardiac rhythm. However, the therapeutic use of digoxin is limited by its narrow therapeutic range, with toxic effects generally seen at concentrations in plasma or serum above 2 ng/mL (anorexia, nausea, vomiting and arrhythmias).

The therapeutic window of digoxin must be closely monitored, taking into account individual sensitivity and associated conditions.
