Simplexa EBV Kit
Simplexa EBV Kit
Background
The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), a widespread human herpes virus with B-lymphocyte tropism, is the causative agent of infectious mononucleosis, and is strongly associated with several human malignancies. Infection with EBV is common and is generally subclinical or presents as a self-limited illness lasting 2 to 3 weeks. As a member of the herpes family, EBV can remain latent for long periods of time, and become reactivated at a later stage. Though the initial infection may result in a relatively benign syndrome, reactivation in an immunocompromised person can lead to more serious results. Monitoring of EBV viral load may help with the identification of post-transplantation lymphoproliferative disorders, and monitoring lymphomas in patients with the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.
Why to choose it
A reliable and accurate assay for quantitation of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) nucleic acids in whole blood specimens.
Benefits
Reliability
The Simplexa EBV Kit has a sensitivity of 900 copies/mL and targets a well conserved region of the Lmp2A gene.
